weekend curfew

Curfew Superupdate 05/24/2009

Long time no blog, so here’s an extended yet condensed updat on happenings from the past month or so.

Blink-182Blink 182 is back together and going on an epic tour this summer with Fall Out Boy, Weezer, The All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Chester French and Asher Roth. Blink’s Mark Hoppus and FOB’s Pete Wentz have teamed up to give away limited edition Blink/FOB usb drives loaded with uber exclusive content, causing fans all over the world to get all stirred up for these Octodrives.

Members of Forever the Sickest Kids and We The Kings’ crew were involved in an altercation with police in Philadelphia, PA. There were definitely accusations of police brutality. I hope they’re okay and I wish those guys the best.

As reported earlier, All Time Low‘s next album will be titled Nothing Personal. The band (now in Japan) recently did some filming (for an MTV promo & maybe a music video?) and fans are getting a glimpse at the new album art.

Sing It Loud (now in the UK) released a video for their song “Don’t Save Me.”

VersaEmerge also have a newish video for their song “Past Praying For.”

Weezer covered MGMT‘s “Kids” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” at some T-Mobile party (That Blink-182 also performed at).

Cobra Starship released their lastest single, “Good Girls Go Bad” featuring Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl fame. The track is off of the upcoming album, Hot Mess, which is due out in August.

Also be sure to check out the Gregory Brothers’ (incl. Michael Gregory) Auto-Tune the News. They’ve been the talk of the blogging town and have also been mentioned on some late night and morning TV shows.

Ok thoses updates have me exhausted. PHEW. Follow me @dtra and I’ll get back with more updates, including an extensive list of summer concerts for the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

Curfew Update 02/19/2009

Blast of newish stuff right here right now. As mentioned in the last post, both acoustic and full band versions of Parachute VA’s new track, “She Is Love” is now available on iTunes.  Thursday’s new album came out earlier this week. Their latest effort is entitled “Common Existence.” Meanwhile, earlier this month Two Tongues released their long awaited self-titled album. Two Tongues is band founded by Max Bemis of Say Anything and Chris Conley of Saves the Day. From start to finish, this is a great album and I especially have high praise for its first track, “Crawl.”

Michael Gergory has teamed up again with Barely Political, this time starring in a video with Obama Girl for his song “Obama Girl Stimulus Song.” Check out his YouTube channel here, and check out the video below:

McCain: ZERO!?

I’m a huge fan of Presidential and Vice Presidential debates. Why? You never know what kinds of gaffes and hijinks will ensue. The Huffington Post provided great coverage of all the goofs from last night’s debate in New York. For example, many news outlets and viewers alike picked up on Senator McCain’s incessant blinking. There’s a great video that compresses 30 seconds of real time into a nine second clip.

Saturday Night Live has certainly capitalized on the humor of elections season. The longtime running show has seen its ratings skyrocket with their campaign coverage. Another person to embrace the humor of the presidential race is my old friend Michael Gregory. He’s done a series of music video parodies recapping each of the debates. He’s hilarious–and musically talented, too. In case you missed the most recent debate, here are some highlights…

You can watch the rest of Michael Gregory’s Debate Highlights in Song and Dance on YouTube and you can download them from his myspace.
