News Again

Taking Back Sunday’s much anticipated new album, New Again is slated for release on June 2. Though that day can’t come fast enough for some, including me, TBS has posted a brief clip of their upcoming single “Sink Into Me” on their MySpace. And if that isn’t enough to whet your musical taste buds, here’s an article from MTV News on New Again and TBS’s recent video shoot for “Sink Into Me.” TBS is currently finishing up a tour or Europe before embarking on a two-month full United States tour, which kicks off at The Bamboozle.

Greensboro, NC’s Mercy Mercedes has posted new music, according to AbsolutePunk.net. Check out the demos, “Drop Top” and “Outta Time (It’s Alright, It’s OK)” on their Purevolume.

AbsolutePunk.net has also reported that MPLS‘s Sing It Loud has their new music video on mtvU. The video is for “Come Around,” which is the title track from their 2008 Epitaph debut.

With the likes of favorites Mark Hoppus, Pete Wentz, and All Time Low (Alex, Jack, Rian and finally Zack) active on Twitter, keep a heads up for new Twitter worms. Mashable has reproted two Twitter worms in the past 24 hours. Read more to find out what you can do if you think you’ve been infected.

Nothing Personal

All Time LowBeginning at around 3:30pm eastern time Tuesday, pop punk homeboys All Time Low began quite the Twitter storm with two simple words: Nothing Personal.¬† From their own twitter accounts, singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth, guitarist Jack Barakat, and drummer Rian Dawson (bassist Zack Merrick seems to be missing on Twitter thus far) began firing tweets in rapid succession. In true ATL fashion, most of them were just dirty insults directed at band members and friends. However, each message ended with the words: “Nothing Personal.” The gimmick exploded in popularity, gaining attention from teenage girls everywhere and even drawing tweets from Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, as well as Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and +44.

Finally, some eight hours and countless Fail Whale sightings later, Gaskarth, Barakat and Dawson simultaneously tweeted a link to Gaskarth’s MySpace page. In his blog, Gaskarth¬† explains that Nothing Personal is actually the title of ATL’s new album, which is due for release in July. The guys went on to tweet a link to AbsolutePunk.net where fans can listen to an exclusive leak of the track “Weightless” off of the upcoming Hopeless Records release. According to the blog post, Nothing Personal became a “top key word on the site” (Twitter). In all, ATL pulled off pulled off a pretty decent scheme to build hype for their new album, for being a bunch of Baltimore suburban clowns–nothing personal.

All Time Low next appears in the area as part of Fall Out Boy’s Believers Never Die Part Deux Tour. They’ll join Metro Station, Cobra Starship and Hey Monday at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD on April 25.

In newish music news, listen to the lastest releases from Ace Enders & a Million Different People, New Found Glory, This Providence, and You Me And Everyone We Know, you’ll thank yourself.

Curfew Update 02/19/2009

Blast of newish stuff right here right now. As mentioned in the last post, both acoustic and full band versions of Parachute VA’s new track, “She Is Love” is now available on iTunes.¬† Thursday’s new album came out earlier this week. Their latest effort is entitled “Common Existence.” Meanwhile, earlier this month Two Tongues released their long awaited self-titled album. Two Tongues is band founded by Max Bemis of Say Anything and Chris Conley of Saves the Day. From start to finish, this is a great album and I especially have high praise for its first track, “Crawl.”

Michael Gergory has teamed up again with Barely Political, this time starring in a video with Obama Girl for his song “Obama Girl Stimulus Song.” Check out his YouTube channel here, and check out the video below:
